On 11th March 2026, Health and Social Science students were given the valuable opportunity to visit Buckinghamshire New University (BNU) for a carefully structured and highly engaging academic experience. The day proved to be both enlightening and motivating, offering students a glimpse into university life while encouraging them to think seriously about their future pathways.
The visit began with an open morning session from 10:00 to 11:15, where students explored postgraduate opportunities and gained an early sense of what continued education at university might look like. This initial session allowed everyone to engage with the environment at their own pace, ask questions, and start envisioning themselves in a higher education setting. There were Masters courses booth on campus and key staff were able to speak to the students on what Masters and Post graduate study would be line at BNU. Our students particularly took interested in Counselling and Psychology , Social work and Msc Physician Associate Study. BNU also offered the student 50% off the cost as students of partner college.

Following this, the Social Science team delivered a warm and informative welcome talk. This session helped contextualize the day, highlighting the relevance of social sciences in today’s world and the wide range of opportunities available within the field. It also set an encouraging tone, making students feel both welcomed and inspired.
The campus tour that followed was a definite highlight. Walking through the university grounds gave students a real sense of campus life, from lecture halls to social spaces. It transformed abstract ideas about university into something tangible and achievable.
After a well-earned lunch break, the afternoon session focused on “Career Success,” which was particularly impactful. This workshop explored how to identify and pursue opportunities in the job market, equipping students with practical advice on career planning, skills development, and employability. A standout feature of this session was the SMART activity, which actively engaged students in setting clear, realistic, and meaningful goals for their futures. It encouraged thoughtful reflection and helped many students begin to map out their next steps with greater confidence.

The day concluded with closing remarks and goodbyes, leaving students with a sense of accomplishment and motivation. Overall, the visit to BNU was a positive and enriching experience. It not only broadened students’ understanding of higher education but also empowered them to think ambitiously about their academic and career aspirations.
Experiences like this are invaluable, as they bridge the gap between school and the wider world, helping students to see what is possible and inspiring them to take the next steps toward their goals.
